Past Masters 1909 Pale Ale | Case of 12 x 500mL Bottles
The Brew: Since 1845 every Fuller’s Head Brewer has kept a hand-written book of brews. The Past Masters series is a glimpse into our unique brewing history, recreating authentic beers from this rich archive of recipes. For the 10th beer in the Past Masters series, we have brewed a historic version of a modern favourite the Pale Ale. It is the first Pale Ale in the series. Pale Ales in 1909 would have been some of the most expensive beers brewed at the time as there were two types of sugar used which added flavour and colour.
Apple and peaches aroma with a sweet biscuit taste and a spicy finish from Golding hops which also give a faint honey characteristic. There is a satisfying balance of bitterness and sweetness. The sweetness comes from the use of two sugar types which combine with the signature citrus flavour of Fuller’s yeast balancing the spicy bitterness from the hops.
